Le titre de khenpo, décerné dans la lignée Kagyu, équivaut à un doctorat en philosophie bouddhiste, obtenu après environ dix ans d’études supérieures consacrées à l’histoire du bouddhisme à travers les textes, les commentaires et les biographies des maîtres. Ce titre confère notamment l’autorisation d’enseigner la philosophie bouddhiste.
Né dans les années 1960, le khenpo Karma Chochok est devenu moine à l’âge de vingt ans. Il a étudié au Népal, puis à l’Institut Karma Sri Nalanda de Rumtek, au Sikkim, en Inde, le siège principal du 16e Karmapa, dont il est originaire. C’est là qu’il a obtenu le titre de Khenpo. Il a enseigné la philosophie bouddhiste et la langue tibétaine à l’Institut bouddhiste international Karmapa (KIBI) à New Delhi et dans plusieurs pays européens, tout en effectuant de nombreuses retraites.
Khenpo Tchöchok est connu pour son ouverture d’esprit, sa sérénité, sa simplicité et l’importance qu’il accorde au dialogue pour transmettre une compréhension authentique et profonde du bouddhisme.
Aujourd’hui, Khenpo Tchöchok vit principalement au Népal, en retraite à Namo Buddha, le centre de retraite fondé par Lodrö Rabsel Rinpoché. Il enseigne également au KIBI, à la demande du Karmapa.
The title of khenpo , earned in the Kagyu lineage ,is the equivalent of a doctorate in Buddhist philosophy, obtained after about ten years of higher education on the history of Buddhism through texts, commentaries and the lives of masters. This title gives in particular the authorization to teach Buddhist philosophy.
Born in the 1960s, khenpo Karma Chochok, became a monk at the age of twenty. He studied in Nepal, then at the Karma Sri Nalanda Institute in Rumtek, Sikkim, India,
the 16 ème Karmapa ’s main seat ,from where he comes. There ,he obtained the title of Khenpo. He taught Buddhist philosophy and the Tibetan language at the Karmapa International Buddhist Institute (KIBI) in New Delhi and in several European countries, also completing numerous retreats.
Khenpo Tchöchok is known for his openness, his relaxation, his simplicity and the importance he attaches to dialogue to transmit a true and profound understanding of Buddhism.
Today, khenpo Chochok lives mainly in Nepal, in retreat at Namo Buddha, the retreat center founded by Lodrö Rabsel Rinpoche. He also teaches at KIBI, at the request of Karmapa.
